I got to be the portrait artist for a Vancouver pre-screening of the Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim movie! Possibly one of the coolest and geekiest things I’ve ever done!
I hadn’t heard of The War of the Rohirrim, but I love the Peter Jackson trilogy movies, so I was super excited for this gig.
The screening was a few days before the release of the movie. Influencers, press, and cosplayers were invited, and there were also some people who won tickets through giveaways from their universities or stores/clubs they were part of. The guests came and got themed cocktails (called Helm’s Hammer - so fun) and mingled for a while. It felt super fancy!!
Each sketch took around 7 minutes and I added accessories to make guests look like they were part of the movie - specifically, part of the Rohirrim. I actually got a moodboard full of screenshots to study beforehand, so I practiced and memorized the headbands, jewelry, and outfits before the event.
Here are some of the sketches I did!
Everyone was really nice - I enjoyed chatting with people as I drew. One of the content creators, Sebastien Elimbi, even tagged me in his video of the event!
