Are you looking for an artist to teach a comic workshop or art workshop for your school or event?
I am a children's author, comic artist, and art teacher. I have more than 10 years of experience teaching art for children and teens. I've also spoken at over 50 library events across the Metro Vancouver area.
Schools and places I've held classes at include:
Please contact me at janice@janiceliu.com with teaching inquiries. I'd be happy to work together to develop a program for either kids or adults!
Below are some topics I've spoken and taught on before. I'm also happy to create a custom plan with you based on any lesson or themes you might want to tie in to.
I am booking for both online events and in-person events near Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, and the Greater Vancouver area.

"Graphic Novels are for Everyone!" Literacy Program
A 1.5 hour fun and games session. The program covers 4 topics:
Informative slides are paired with comic-related games & quizzes that both kids and families can participate in. The intent is to teach kids about the techniques that go behind graphic novels, while at the same time showing parents the value of graphic novels, and how they help kids subconsciously develop literacy. Note: This workshop is intended as a family fun activity, and does not include any drawing instruction. For ages 8-12.
1.5 hours. One of my most popular workshops - this is a drawing-heavy workshop that covers the basics of how to draw a manga / anime style face. Tailored to any age 8 and up.
A 2 hour workshop. Covers the whole process of creating a 1-2 page comic story, from brainstorming to scriptwriting to artwork. Tailored to any age 7 and up.
A 2 hour session on colour mixing and basic painting skills, working from a photo. Participants will finish with a simple but cute painting - think plants, cake, etc. Special supplies and sink access required. For ages 9 and up.
iPad Drawing Workshop on Procreate
1.5 hours. A step-by-step guided lesson on using Procreate. Participants create a finished drawing or painting in the app by the end of the session. iPads required. For past examples, see my blog post: Spooky Cats
My rate for a 1.5 hour event for schools and libraries is:
If finances are a barrier, please contact me. I may be able to offer discounted pricing for schools or non-profit organizations.
